2008 Church Council Members:  Steve Harrill (Chair)  Dean Whiteside (Vice Chair), Chris Ann Somers (Secretary),  Lauren Guffie (Youth Rep.), John Dancoff, Joan Elmore, Darren Crowder, Debbie Harris, Hal Kluttz, C.J. Nelson, Dean Nichols, Teena Price, Angela Stoner,  Pastor John Duncan. 

Pastor John Duncan is a 1996 honors graduate of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary; and was called as pastor at Holy Cross that same year. He also brings 15+ years of business experience and an MBA from Clemson University to parish ministry. Pastor Duncan has been married to his lovely bride, Cindy, for over 30 years. They have three terrific children and five absolutely beautiful grandchildren.  In his spare time Pastor Duncan enjoys golf, fishing, photography, computers and playing the guitar. 

Director of Music, Thomas Bumgarner, joined our Holy Cross staff in 1999. He is a 1982 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College with a BA degree in Organ Music. In 2000 Thomas was awarded a Certificate in Sacred Music Studies, also from Lenoir-Rhyne College. Thomas directs both the Chancel Choir and the Hand Bell Choir. He also provides leadership for both the Traditional and Contemporary Worship Planning Teams. Thomas is a fine performance musician, playing organ and piano during traditional worship; and keyboards and percussion in the Contemporary Ensemble.

Contemporary Worship Leader, Wade Parlier joined Holy Cross in 1991 and was a driving force in forming our Contemporary worship service and Contemporary Ensemble. Wade plays the keyboards and guitar and is a lead vocalist in our group.  He is a  very active member in all areas of Holy Cross ministry.

 

Rickie Allen, a Lincolnton native, has served Holy Cross as Parish Secretary since 1982.   She also serves Holy Cross on the Worship & Music Committee and sings in the Contemporary Ensemble.  Rickie and husband, Robert, have two grown children and three adorable grandchildren.

Karen Hayes began serving as Holy Cross Communications Director in February of 2002. She, her husband Richard and their teenage boys, Daniel and Kevin have been members since 1992. Karen and her family are very active in many programs and organizations here at Holy Cross. Karen is in charge of writing and producing our monthly newsletter, updating and making improvements to the website and keeping our members informed of events, obligations and duties and prayer concerns.
 

Congregation Council Chair, Steve Harrill has been a member of Holy Cross since he was a child.  Steve is active in church and community often serving on council and a regular worship assistant as Communion assistant, usher and lector.

 

Congregation Council Vice-Chair, John Dancoff, joined Holy Cross in 1993.  He is an active member of church and community serving as communion assistant and usher.  he was instrumental in getting our first Alpha course going and is Lincolnton's director of the annual American Cancer Society "Relay For Life."  John is also serves as president of Holy Cross Lutheran Men in Mission (LMIM)

 

Church Treasurer, Laurie Nelson began attending Holy Cross in September of 2006 and she and her family became members in March of 2007.  Laurie graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a Bachelor's in Accounting and became a CPA.  She started her career as an auditor in public accounting, spent 14 years as the controller at the Peninsula Club and is now the Controller for Rock Barn Golf & Spa.  Laurie lives with husband, C.J. and her teenaged son, David.

Youth Group President, Lauren Guffie attends North Lincoln High School.  She hopes to attend Lenoir-Rhyne College and major in Elementary Education with a minor in Religious Studies.  Lauren is very active with Teens Encounter Christ (TEC).  She also serves as youth representative on church council.
