John 1:43-46

43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth." 46 Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

To those who are searching...

Is your life less than what you always thought it would be? Is there an emptiness inside of you which cannot quite be filled? Perhaps you have sought fulfillment in money, fancy cars, sex, alcohol, drugs, sports, hobbies or career... just to name a few possibilities. But after brief periods of fun and excitement, the feeling that something must be missing returns again. The Bible tells us that we humans are created to worship and serve the living God. And nothing else will ever make us whole.

Is there pain in your heart which has never been completely healed? Are you carrying a heavy burden? Are you suffering from great guilt or harboring bitter resentment? Our Lord Jesus said, "Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Do you feel all alone even when you are with others? 21st century culture tells us that "we must make it all on our on" and that "God helps those who help themselves." These are falsehoods which keep us from discovering the truth. The Truth is that our God loves you so much that he would rather die than live without you. His only son Jesus the Christ died just for you, rose again and awaits only your simple invitation to become both your brother and your very best friend.

Our Christian community at Holy Cross Lutheran Church is excited and ready to welcome you into the very family of God. It is our hearts' greatest desire to introduce you to the love and fellowship that we have found in Jesus. We are much like Phillip in the Bible passage printed in the left column of this page. We have found the One who can heal all hurts, fill that empty place and end loneliness forever. And we long to share this Jesus of Nazareth with you.  If you are like Nathanael and have serious doubts about Jesus or his body on earth, the church.... then we respond to you with the words of Phillip, "Come and see."
